During this period of time, issues symbolised by Capricorn, like order, moral values, systems, governments, authorities, organisations and institutions may confront Saturn’s challenges. Although some astrologers suggest that Saturn’s ingress into Capricorn could be a good thing since it is its ruler, I observe that the ruthless challenges of Saturn would still remind these companies, organisations and structures of traits which are out of date and which need improvements.

Saturn symbolises order, regulations, structures, worries, obstacles, slowness, time and experience. Traditionally, Saturn is cold and dry. Enki is also the god of water, and the keeper of the divine powers “Me”, the power of civilisation and creation. This reminds us that Capricorn is closely related to societies, civilisations and structures, and this can even be extended to institutions including countries, companies, organisations and communities.

When Saturn returns to Capricorn, its domicile sign, the society will easily focus on how it is influenced by countries, governments, companies and institutions. The previous Saturn in Capricorn era took place from February 1988 to February 1991. Thus, a lot of incidents happened in 1989 that could be associated with the Jupiter-Saturn semisquare in 1998. We will also face three Jupiter-Saturn semisquares in 2018. Hence, when we consider the upcoming influences of Saturn, we should also take into account the roles of Uranus-Neptune semisquare, Jupiter-Saturn semisquare and Saturn-Pluto conjunction, for these placements and aspects imply the trend and development of the incidents happened in aforementioned timings.

Eastern Europe, USSR and Cold War

In October 2006 when Saturn was in Leo and formed a square with Jupiter in Scorpio, a trine with Pluto and an opposition with Neptune, Al-Qaeda in Iraq rebranded themselves as “Islamic State of Iraq”. This organisation not only was closely related to Al-Qaeda, but a lot of troops of Saddam Hussein joined them right after the second Persian Gulf War.

Saturn-Pluto conjunction is also closely related to the first Persian Gulf War and the political attitude of those nations who were once colonies and whose independence were supported by their sovereignty states. Although the influential power of ISIS is weakening in Middle East now, the conflicts between Sunni Islam and Shia Islam, the independent movement of Kurds, and the rivalries in Middle East would possibly become more visible in the upcoming future.

In 1928 to 1929 when Saturn was in Capricorn, there were two major conflicts between the Jewish and Palestinians. When WWII ended in 1947, during which Saturn was conjunct Pluto, another flock of Jewish flooded into Palestine again. United Nations thus partition Palestine between Arabian and Jewish regions, which results in the creation of the State of Israel. The establishment of Israel and the subsequent rivals between Israel and other Arabian states began in 1948 under this Saturn-Pluto conjunction.

African Independence Movements and Apartheid of South Africa in the Sixties

When Saturn was in Capricorn in 1959 to 1961, as we have mentioned before, Saddam Hussein, the late president of Iraq, accepted the support of the U.S. and became a strong Middle-East military power, but he triggered the Persian Gulf War in the nineties, and was executed in 2006 when Jupiter was in Scorpio. Around this time we have Saturn-Chiron square and Jupiter and Saturn were in the last 45 degrees of their waning phrase. During 1947’s Saturn-Pluto conjunction, India and Pakistan became independent of Britain. We saw the influence of Saturn in Capricorn in 1959 to 1961 on Cyprus and those African colonies. When Saturn and Pluto started to form conjunction in 1982, Canada totally became independent of Britain. When Saturn moved into Capricorn in the nineties, the rivalry between Britain and Northern Ireland was intense, with the Irish Republican Army carrying out a number of terror attacks. We probably know very well that the Good Friday Agreement was signed in the previous Jupiter in Scorpio era. On the other hand, the Falklands War began in 1982 when Saturn was conjunct Pluto in Libra. Argentina was undergoing the 1982 Latin economic crisis. Argentina’s occupation of the Falkland Islands gave rise to a brief patriotic movement in Britain, which helped the Conservatives win the general election in 1983; Argentina’s defeat, on the other hand, led to the removal of the military dictator Leopoldo Galtieri and a democratic government structure. Saturn in Capricorn often implies that nationalism gets heated. We can observe if Northern Ireland and Scotland would fight for their independence once again, or if Britain’s overseas territory will grab global attention.

Beside the independence movements of colonies, there is another issue of Britain which is closely associated to Saturn-Pluto cycle. British coal mines were nationalised in 1947 and the Railways of Britain were nationalised to form British Railways. However, in 1993 when Saturn and Pluto were in square, the Railway Act 1993 was introduced. After several amendments, the Labour Party recently suggested relative policies on nationalising the railways system. Probably we would observe development on this Act.

American Civil-Rights Movement

The American Civil-Rights Movement was in full swing in 1959 to 1961, The Greensboro sit-ins Begin a  a series of nonviolent protests between February – July 1960 , and this was when Saturn moved into Capricorn. We know that racial segregation and conflicts, colonisation, and slavery have long been associated to Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn-Pluto aspects. In America in 1784 when Saturn was in Capricorn, Thomas Jefferson proposed in 1784 to end slavery in all the territories, but his bill lost in the Congress by one vote. Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Aquarius in 1786, and the United States Constitution was created in 1787, and interestingly the thirteenth amendment was passed in 1865. This amendment suggested to fully abolish slavery and involuntary servitude, and Saturn and Pluto were conjunct at that moment. We probably have noticed that racial conflicts are getting more overt after the inauguration of Donald Trump, and we should devote more attention on the rights of different races, LGBT groups and women, all of which correspond with the issues of Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn-Pluto aspects.

After paying attention to the rise of far-right parties and fascism after 1929, we inevitably have to put our eye on the rise of McCarthyism too, a practice which rose around 1947 that, in the name of fighting against communism, arrested those who criticised the government and put them to trial. The most famous case must be that of the Hollywood Ten, after the screenwriters and directors refuse to co-operate with the House Un-American Activities Committee concerning allegations of communist influences in the movie business. The ten men are blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studios on the following day. These men were accused of being members of communist parties, and they lost their jobs and were put into jail. It was when Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Leo. At that time, the idea of anti-communism prevailed in America, and many people were arrested for treason or subversion. When talking about patriotic emotions, some of us may be aware of Trump’s criticism against the protest of soccer players, blaming them being non-patriotic and insulting the national flag. From the above example, we probably realise that Saturn-Pluto aspects may easily bring forth nationalistic actions because of fear and self-protection. What is more interesting is that the Texas v. Johnson incident also happened in 1989 when Saturn was in Capricorn. In this incident, Gregory Lee “Joey” Johnson, then a member of the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade, participated in a political demonstration during the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas. Johnson poured kerosene on the flag and set it on fire. They eventually won the case, and his action of burning national flag was regarded as an act protected by freedom of speech as stated in the constitution. We should also notice that it was 1984 when Johnson burned the flag, which was right after Saturn and Pluto got conjunct in 1983.

Eastern Asian Region

In 1988 to 1991 when Saturn was in Capricorn, Burma and South Korea underwent large-scale protests led by democracy movements. North Korea, on the other hand, was found having nuclear weapons and its first nuclear test took place in 2006 when Jupiter was in Scorpio. South Korea and North Korea had their first official contact in 1990; at the same time, the Saffron Revolution happened and Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested in Burma. In 1988, the university students of Taiwan organised a protest for democracy movements, which eventually led Taiwan on it path to democracy. Across the strait, the infamous June Fourth Incident happened in China in 1989. Earlier in 1959 to 1961, South Korea had some intense protests for democracy; at the same time, the Cultural Revolution happened in China. It was also when the Chinese government ruled Tibet with a heavy hand and the Dalai Lama fled.

China’s territorial claim around the South China Sea is the main reason behind tensions among South-east Asian countries. Besides, China also plays a vital role on the North Korea nuclear issue. At the moment, President Xi Jingpin almost dominates the sovereignty. He implements control over Internet and media with a heavy hand. However, with the arising political conflicts of Hong Kong, the isolating relationship with Taiwan after Tsai Ing-wen, a pro-Taiwan Independence candidate, was elected as President in 2016, and what China went through in the previous Saturn in Capricorn periods in the 20^th century which all shocked China, we had better cautiously keep an eye on China’s development. Also, let’s not forget to pay attention to the political stability of Korea and the SE Asian countries in the upcoming two years.

From the observation of Saturn-Pluto conjunctions, we realise that there are always major events happening, especially large-scale racial conflicts or civil wars. In February 1947, Taiwan had a very large-scale anti-government uprising, the February 28 Incident, triggered by a dispute between a cigarette vendor and an officer of the Office of Monopoly which eventually led to civil disorder and an open rebellion that lasted for days. The violence spread and led to indiscriminate lynching of Mainlanders, with an estimated 10,000 casualties. Also, in 1947, 400,000 people were slaughtered during a mass migration of Hindus and Muslims into the new states India and Pakistan. During the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 1983, the Black July anti-Tamil riots, generally regarded as the beginning of the Sri Lankan Civil War, began in Sri Lanka, killing between 400 and 3,000.

Financial Crisis

When discussing the 1929 Saturn in Capricorn era, inevitably we would discuss the infamous Wall Street stock market crash. This incident happened in October, and Saturn was in retrograde moving back to 26 Sagittarius, the degree around the Galactic Centre. This not only affected the financial markets and banks of the States and European countries and in turn led to the Great Depression, but also invoked people’s dissatisfaction towards their governments changing their support to far-right political parties and fascism, which is one of the main reasons behind WWII. In 1931, Pluto was in Cancer and Saturn was in Capricorn, forming an opposition. In November 2017, Saturn once again approached 26 Sagittarius, a degree that invokes riots and disorders, and it will be conjunct Pluto two years later.  The financial markets have been skyrocketing this year, and a lot of astrologers have already warned about this over-optimistic attitude towards investment.

Another financial crisis happened in Latin America in 1982 under similar planetary placements. Saturn was conjunct Pluto in Libra at that time. To Latin America, it was not simply a financial crisis because it triggered conflicts across the continent. The dictator of Argentina at that time tried to redirect people’s dissatisfaction out of this crisis by invoking the Falkland war, eventually causing his own downfall.

Gender Issues and Human Rights Issue

Feminist movements and LGBTQ equal right movements seem to be related to this series of planetary placements too. In 1988 when Saturn, Uranus and Neptune were all in Capricorn, the Conservative government led by Margaret Thatcher enacted Section 28, stating that a local authority “shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality” or “promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship”. However, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from its list of diseases.

The first female country leader elected in a general election also appeared in 1960 in Sri Lanka as their stateswoman when Saturn was in Capricorn, and female citizens in Sri Lanka that time were granted the voting right. Perhaps it would surprise you, but women in Geneva only started to have voting rights in that time, and it was limited to Geneva only, not the whole Switzerland. Swiss female citizens outside of Geneva had to wait till 1971 to vote. In 1914 when Saturn and Pluto were conjunct, the United States House of Representatives rejected the proposal of letting women vote. Does letting women vote mean shaking the patriarch society? Will this deprive men of their rights? Will recognising the existence of LGBTQ group mean invading the rights that heterosexuals have? Saturn and Pluto aspects fear that one’s own rights will be deprived, and we can see such implication manifest among these social conflicts. These gender issues also are related to Chiron in Aries. When Chiron moves into Aries in 2018, we can expect obvious development of gender issues to happen.

Cancer-Capricorn axis often triggers controversies over birth control. In December 1920, the Papal encyclical Casti connubii issued by Pope Pius XI stressed the sanctity of marriage, prohibited Roman Catholics from using any form of artificial birth control, and reaffirmed the Catholic prohibition on abortion, whereas FDA of U.S. authorised the first oral contraceptive pills in 1960. Interestingly, the famous Barbie doll of Mattel first appeared in 1959. Although it is a widely popular doll, it often invoked sexual and racial controversies, both of which are closely associated to Capricorn or Cancer-Capricorn axis.

What is more worth our notice is colonisation and slavery. Although most countries have already forbidden slavery, it actually still exists in our society in disguise – see how some employees enslave themselves or get enslaved by employers. From the news, we see how some people treat their housemaids as slaves, maltreating them by offering harsh dining, sleeping and living environment.

We can see the obvious influence of Saturn in Capricorn over regimes, kingdoms, systems, structures and racial conflicts, and it may even bring forth doubts. When Saturn returns to Capricorn, its own sign, it will not bring stability to politics as we expect; instead, whoever have privilege or advantage on gender, racial, or politic issues, the neglected or invaded ones will also take action responsively. We can expect some traits related to independence movements, racial conflicts, the rise of far-right political parties, gender issue, LGBTQ rights issue, human rights issue, and anti-slavery appearing when Saturn is about to leave Sagittarius, and situations would get clearer once Saturn moves into Capricorn.

Fear of Death, Nuclear Weapons, Chemical Weapons and HIV

Both Saturn and Pluto symbolise the fear of death, and this explains why Saturn-Pluto aspects often brought forth mass casualty in history. Wars and Epidemics often are main causes behind such deaths. When Saturn and Pluto form aspects, we, on one hand, witness mass casualties because of conflicts and wars, but on the other hand we see how the contemporary try their very best to stop the recurrence of tragedies. When we have discussed conflict between USSR and NATO in previous sections, we mentioned that it was the climax of Cold War and nuclear crisis in 1983. In fact, in 1946 after WWII, when Saturn and Pluto were conjunct, prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru appealed to the United States and the Soviet Union to end nuclear testing and to start nuclear disarmament, stating that such an action would “save humanity from the ultimate disaster.”

Besides USA and USSR, France also decided to develop nuclear weapon in 1958 when Saturn was in Capricorn, and had started nuclear tests since 1960. At the same time, within the framework of the United Nations, the principle of nuclear non-proliferation was addressed in negotiations as early as 1957. The NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) process was launched by Frank Aiken, Irish Minister for External Affairs, in 1958. Also, due to similar nuclear threats from North Korea, leading UK and USSR also started nuclear bombing tests at that time. In 2017, The United Nations passed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which is the first legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons, with the goal of leading towards their total elimination.  Also, the Nobel Peace Prize of 2017 went to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, ICAN. It means that it may be possible for us to promote nuclear elimination under Saturn-Pluto conjunction.

Besides nuclear weapons, chemical weapons are another concern. In 1990 when Saturn was still in Capricorn, U.S. President George H. W. Bush and Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev signed a treaty to end chemical weapon production and began destroying their respective stocks. Then, in 1992 to 1993, United Nations negotiated a ban on chemical weapons. In early 1993, the treaty was signed and soon the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was formed, and it was when Saturn in Aquarius and Pluto in Scorpio formed a square.

Nuclear crisis was not the only threat in 1982 and 1983 when Saturn-Pluto conjunction took place in Libra. It was also when two separate research groups led by Robert Gallo and Luc Montagnier independently declared that a novel retrovirus may have been infecting people with HIV/AIDS. We know how much fear it had caused in the eighties. People know little about the virus and thus acted discriminatingly to patients, like claiming this disease was the punishment of God on homosexuals. Patients were isolated. Such reaction corresponds with the meaning of Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Libra – fear in intimacy and partnership.

Religious Reformation

There was something spectacular happened in 1517 -1518 which worth our notice. At that time, Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Capricorn, and Uranus was about to move into Taurus – these outer planet placements are what we are going to experience in 2019.

In 1517, Ottoman Empire occupied Egypt, and an ambassador from Portugal had his first official contact with China. Perhaps this could be related to the tense situation of Turkey and Middle East, and the world’s interest on China nowadays. What is more important is that Martin Luther published his 95 Theses and posted them on the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church in 1517, on 31 October 1517 Saturn was still on 27 Sagittarius but conjunct with Pluto in 2 degrees Capricorn and Uranus was at 5 degrees Taurus.   

We cannot say that this single act boosted religious reformation at that time, especially when Jan Hus and John Wyclif had already criticised the Church publicly in the 14^th century, and their words have had influence ever since. If we try to explore the history of how the Church split, there actually lies the influence of Saturn-Pluto cycle. In the Council of Chalcedon held in AD 451, the See of Constantinople was elevated to a position “second in eminence and power to the Bishop of Rome” and Rome thus filed a protest against the reduction of honour given to Antioch and Alexandria. It was one of the major deviations between Constantinople and Rome. Pluto was in Cancer and Saturn was in Libra at that time, forming a tight square.

The Byzantine Iconoclasm in AD726 worsened the conflict between Pope of Roman Church and Constantinople where the emperor of Byzantine Empire resided. Saturn was in Aquarius whereas Pluto was in Leo (they would form an exact opposition after 2 years).

From the observation of these history, I believe we should not limit our focus on the reformation of church or conflicts among different denominations. Instead, we should realise that at that time the Church actually possessed great political rights. The conflicts between the king and the pope were often because of economic advantages and political rights. These are also attributes of Saturn and Pluto. When considering East-West Schism, we should not only think about religious difference.

Reasons Behind Independence Movement, Patriotisms and Racial Conflicts: Definition and Denial of Self

Under Saturn-Pluto aspects, we often observe incidents which involve mass casualties. This could be diseases and natural disasters, but it could also be political conflicts, be it racial, hierarchal or religious. There are always a number of complicated factors behind them; for example, the main factor behind East-West Schism was not only differences on religious perspectives but also huge economic and political feedback.

We may also observe a number of different reasons behind the arguments over Brexit or independence of Catalonia. Some claim that Brexit allows Britain to lower government expenditure, and some blame that Catalonia’s independence movement is mainly because of economic consideration. However, let us put it this way – when nationalism movements or independence movements, self-identification, gender identification, LGBT social movements and religious conflicts take place, we often wonder why people would be willing to take great risk to get injured in order to protect or fight for such recognition or rights. Why are these movements and conflicts which take place in times of Saturn in Capricorn or Saturn-Pluto aspects so intense? When we look back and review the meaning of Saturn, we realise that “definition” is one of those Saturnian attributes. So, how do we define ourselves?

Who am I?

Besides by names, gender and occupations, we define ourselves by our race and blood. When one identifies strongly with something outside, this object becomes the symbol of their self-identification. There could be numerous reasons behind people’s support of Brexit or Catalonia’s independence. To those Brexit supporters, it may signify Britain’s return to its past glory, whereas to those supporters of Catalonia independence, their recognition to Catalonia’s language and culture, together with its glory and its historical independence movement, overshadows their support to the Spanish King. Without the support of such intense self-identification and emotion, people will not come out to sacrifice their freedom and life.

When things that people use to self-identify or define themselves (Saturn) disappear (Pluto), this could mean the disappearance of an identity (nation, religion, faith, organisation or football team that one supports), and this actually is equivalent to a sense of self-denial which is symbolically similar to death itself. From this perspective, perhaps we could better understand those “negligible” voice for independence and those vigorous reaction as a result of suppression, changes and restrictions of nationality, homeland, faith and sexual orientation. Next time, when we are going to laugh at those pitiful voice for independence, those silly Brexit slogans to “take back control”, or those Trump supporters who believe that America will be great again, let us stop and think for a second – this may be stupid and laughable to you, but to these people who identify themselves strongly to their countries and homeland, it is a sense of self-worth which is absolutely undeniable.

Saturn Retrograde and Station

After Saturn’s ingress into Capricorn on 20 December 2017, it will start to station at 9 Capricorn from 12^th to 22^nd April; then, it will start to retrograde until 6^th September 2018 when it is at 2 Capricorn. This retrograde will be very important because it will start its retrograde at 9 Capricorn, a degree which Sun will pass through on 1^st January every year. To many newly-established countries and institutions, this is their Sun’s position. For example, in UK’s 1066 chart, its Sun is at 9 Capricorn, and in its 1801 chart, its Sun is at 10 Capricorn. When Saturn stations at this degree, it implies that we should pay more attention to the system of these countries and institutions, or it could be that their leaders will confront challenges.

Saturn will once again start to retrograde from 30^th April 2019 to 18^th September. During its retrograde, we should be more cautious on constructions, legislation, and organisation or work and projects. We may encounter some frustrations, but this may mean that we discover something which need to be re-evaluated or reconsidered. We may also tend to go inward to find a different way of construction.

Eventually, Saturn will move backward from Aquarius into Capricorn in July 2020, and will stay retrograde until 29^th September, move into Aquarius again on 17^th December. Symbolically, this is a valuable opportunity for us to review – when Saturn is in Aquarius, we may be keen to establish or construct new structures and systems; when Saturn goes back to Capricorn, it will remind us to assess our upcoming plans and projects with a sense of practicality and a materialistic approach.

When Saturn is in Capricorn and Jupiter is in Scorpio, extremism, patriotism and far-right fascism will arise once again. When political divisions appear and when different parties conflict, perhaps we should bear in mind what we learn from history (Both Saturn in Capricorn and Jupiter in Scorpio are associated to “lessons from history”), and understand the wound from social divisions, conflicts and extremism. Scorpio, which Jupiter is currently in, is a water sign which symbolises emotional persistence, memory and recollection. Besides getting agitated, we may also manifest our empathy and listen to different voices with an open mind. This may lessen our pain. Saturn in Capricorn and Chiron in Aries means that people no longer want to be puppets of the authorities, and they will act accordingly to respond. Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus may ask us to use a practical yet innovative approach to confront the upcoming years.

Individual Level

Individually, Saturn symbolises how a person protects, secures, and becomes more mature and independent. It is how we see our responsibility to our society and family. What is more important is our attitude. If this is your critical Saturn timing, like if your Saturn is also in Capricorn, it means you are going to undergo your Saturn return. Then, the most important thing to do is to introspect about your natal Saturn – its sign, house and aspects will inform what you should cautiously handle. Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle

Andre Barbault points out that the Uranus-Neptune synodic cycle is closely related to some important ideological progression, with the previous one (1821-1993) specifically chronicled the starting point of modernisation of human civilisation. Industrial Revolution undoubtedly has brought us a rapid economic and technological evolution, but it has also widened the rich-poor disparity.

Karl Marx was concerned about how entrepreneurs deprived labourers and criticised European right-winged regimes – these all took place between 1846-1849, the first semisquare of the previous Uranus-Neptune cycle. At the same time, in 1848, a series of revolts broke out shaking the rulership of European monarchies, and the idea of liberalism and nationalism were thus seeded in Europe. Now, let us come back to our modern time. U.S. has withdrawn from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Brexit has been taking place, nationalism and right-winged politicians once again gain support, all of which are more or less a revolt against liberalisation and globalisation. Barbault also agrees that the Uranus-Neptune conjunction in 1993 is closely related to globalisation. In 1993, European nations started to undertake the Maastricht Treaty, which includes an organised, agreed foreign policy of the European Union (EU) for mainly security and defence, diplomacy and actions and an agreement on the citizenship of Europeans, leading to the establishment of European Union. Saturn – Chiron Cycle

At the same time, we should also pay attention to Saturn and Chiron. Saturn and Chiron, which are now at the end of Sagittarius and Pisces respectively, form a square, implying those wounds brought by regime, control, protection and hierarchy. Both planets will soon move into cardinal signs. Saturn symbolises the protectionism which prevails globally, and the careful consideration regarding sharing of resources among economic and cultural exchanges. Socially, such protectionist features would be manifested through the act of xenophobia and communitarianism. This Saturn-Chiron square will be most influential from the end of October 2017 to November, and it will resurface again in the summer of 2018.

The previous Saturn-Chiron waning square happened at the end of World War II. They started to form an applying aspect in 1945, and continually formed 14 exact squares in 10 years until 1953 when they no longer formed any exact aspect but still had a square of 1-degree orb. It was the time when the western Europe started to reconstruct after the war and people also started to reflect on what authority was about. Communism also rose rapidly in eastern Europe and Asia at that time. What we are undergoing now is related to the Saturn-Chiron conjunction in Pisces in 1966, an era when Vietnam War, Arab-Israeli Conflict and Chinese Cultural Revolution took place. The hippies which were anti-war and promoted peace, together with African-American Civil Rights Movement, also happened at this time. European Economic Community, European Coal and Steel Community and European Atomic Energy Community, the three communities established after World War II, integrated and became an important structure for the latter European Union.

From these backgrounds, we understand that the social changes we are undergoing through right now – Brexit, the rise of extreme right-wing parties, the threats from Russia, China and North Korean in Asia – they are all closely related to the 171-year Uranus-Neptune cycle and the Saturn-Chiron cycle. The yearly Jupiter ingress is also related to these happenings. Jupiter serves as the symbol of social norm and ideology whereas Scorpio symbolises the memory of wounds. We can observe if large-scale war, which countries have been trying to avoid since World War II, will be triggered again.  Will people be reminded of their longing for peace and humanity and face the upcoming upheavals hand-in-hand or will we succumb to the fear of Scorpio, showing our claws to defend and fight for resources to guarantee our own survival?

Jupiter in Scorpio

In mundane astrology, Jupiter is the index of social, economic and cultural norm. Its ingress is often associated with noticeable social issues. I still remember 11 years ago, last time when Jupiter moved into Scorpio, a Finnish band Lordi performed “Hard Rock Hallelujah” in demon costumes in the Eurovision Song Contest and won. Next day, I saw an old gentleman in the Tube compartment holding a sign which read “The End of World is Coming – The Demons Won Eurovision”. Demons, Death, Apocalypse and the sense of danger are all closely related to Scorpio.  When Jupiter moves into Scorpio again, we should expect to observe news related to these issues in the media once again:  the several North Korean missiles tests which have shocked the world and caused quite an international turmoil; people’s prediction on when the financial markets will collapse, not to mention the late earthquakes; hurricanes and volcanic eruptions that worry us. When Jupiter finally moves into Scorpio, such situations will only get worsen.

Let us review what happened in the previous Jupiter in Scorpio period so as to have a better expectation for the upcoming one. The previous Jupiter in Scorpio era happened from 26 Oct 2005 to 23 Nov 2006. An outrage occurred in the suburb of Paris at that time due to an incident in which the police shot dead two unarmed Muslim teenagers. Similar riots also happened in Europe and the US in the same year. In Australia, the Cronulla riots that year, a conflict between Australians and Lebanese immigrants, caused a subsequent ethnic attack. In addition, if you still remember, the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy also happened during that period, an incident in which the Danish newspaper published 12 editorial cartoons that mostly depicted Muhammad and triggered Muslims’ anger and protests.

Interestingly, Jupiter in Scorpio may also manifest through political figures and acts. Angela Merkel was elected as the Chancellor of Germany for the first time in Nov 2005, and, as the first female Chancellor of the country, she has been in this position for 4 consecutive elections. At the same time, Liberia has also just elected Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as their first female President in 2006. The feminine Scorpio symbolises a determined nurturing power and a strong protective strength, which is closely associated with these important female political figures. No matter whether you agree with Angela Merkel’s right-winged conservative political views, she gained much applause on her handling of EU economic crisis and her immense concern on refugee issue. In Spain, ETA declared to ceasefire in April 2006, but they attacked Madrid-Barajas Airport in December in the same year (Jupiter had already moved into Sagittarius). The Catalan autonomy referendum was also held at this period, and its result showed that most Catalonian residents approved of the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia Bill. Now, in 2017, Catalonia is under vigorous conflicts against the Spanish government because of its independence referendum. Perhaps it is time for us to pay more attention on how this referendum unfolds. Moreover, in France in March 2006, students, labour unions and workers went on protests because of government’s proposed First Employment Contract law. In 2017, Emmanuel Macron has just signed a new labour law which led to an outcry by the workers. In addition, Russia has long been the focus of eastern and northern European countries. In the previous Jupiter-Scorpio period, Russia and Ukraine came into conflict because of natural gas pipelines, which led to an energy crisis in Europe at that time.

On the other hand, in Asia in 2006, we had two political crises. One of which happened in Thailand in which the army took control of Bangkok when Thaksin visited New York to attend a UN summit.  The other one involved the missile test of North Korea that took place in July the same year, and its nuclear test in end-2006 caught global attention. After a Jupiter cycle, now we are observing if North Korea will become one of the nuclear countries. In Japan, Shizo Abe, who first became Prime Minister of Japan when Jupiter was in Scorpio last time, has just announced a new election. Also, in 2006 the alleged Livedoor Scandal sparked panic selling at the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In China, that was the time when the media was under strict supervision and a lot of web sites were forced to shut down.

There were also a series of incidents which resonate with Scorpion issues. Pluto was also reclassified by IUA and became a dwarf planet in 2006, and NASA announced the discovery of evidence that proves the existence of dark matter at the same year. A former Russian spy was poisoned and killed in a sushi bar in London.  The bird flu virus caused widespread terror.  Temperatures in Europe reached unprecedented lows. There was an energy crisis as a result of the natural gas issue between Russia and Ukraine.  Financially, the real estate bubble started to appear in U.S. in 2006, which eventually became the subprime mortgage crisis in 2007-2008 that led to the global financial tsunami.

When crisis happens, people will ensure personal safety in their own way. Some will shut the door to reduce the crashes coming from outside, and others will pull out their weapons to show their self-defensive ability. What is of utmost importance is to protect the abundance of resources and one’s own properties and to kick out those who take your food when a crisis takes place.

Jupiter in Scorpio will lead the society to confront crises.  How one responds to crises relies on Scorpio’s insight, and such insight allows one to comprehend the complex political manipulation and power struggles. This Jupiter in Scorpio also reminds us to learn from experience and to gain experience from pain. The water element of Scorpio is compassion, reflection, feelings, memories, recollections, moisturising and nurturing – these could be what we can best utilise when Jupiter is in Scorpio. Scorpio, as a water sign, is moist and cold in nature whereas Jupiter’s nature is moist and hot. Though their natures are not exactly the same, their similar attribute, moisture, may imply that this year could be one for people to learn to “moisten” and nurture each other.

Jupiter-Saturn Semisquare

When considering the influence of Jupiter in Scorpio in the upcoming year, we should not overlook the fact that we are also in the ending phase of Jupiter-Saturn synodic cycle. This cycle started in 2000 with a conjunction, and we experienced its waxing square in 2005, its opposition in 2010, and now its ending phase after the waning square in 2016. This not only signifies that the present development cycle that has been running since 2000 is coming to an end, but also reminds us that we have to abandon some out-of-date ideas and structures in order to embrace the new Jupiter-Saturn cycle. From December 2017 onward, Jupiter and Saturn will start to form a semisquare, and this aspect will repeat in March and September 2018. This semisquare could be seen as one of the important patterns of outer planets in 2018. From his observation on planetary cycles, Dane Rudhyar told us that this waning semisquare chronicles the end of this cycle, and is a period of darkness, withering and letting go. The Jupiter-Saturn square in 2016 implies that we manage to realise what ideas and social structure we should keep and what structures we should protect or revise after encountering all those conflicts. Now it is time for us to pack up things. We have to let go of those intense issues that we are not capable of protecting, regulating or revising. If it is our mind which caused all these insoluble issues, then perhaps it is time for us to let go of these mindsets. This waning semisquare, which pretty much symbolises balsamic moon, an almost invisible moon, and Jupiter in Scorpio more or less narrate a similar social atmosphere.

What happened in-between their waning semisquares and conjunctions in the last two Jupiter-Saturn cycles is worth our notice, especially those events which somehow brought an end to a certain era. For instance, in 1998 when Jupiter in Pisces formed a waning semisquare to Saturn in Aries, the British government, Irish government and most Northern Ireland political parties signed the Good Friday Agreement, a major political development related to the sovereignty of Northern Ireland. Moreover, in 1978 under Jupiter in Leo and Saturn in Virgo, Egypt and Israel signed the Camp David Accords following a secret negotiation witnessed by Jimmy Carter, the then U.S. president. All these agreements chronicle the end of conflicts. Perhaps waning squares remind us that it is time to send old conflicts away in order to welcome a new historic era. Interestingly, 1998 is also the time that Europe started to use euro and a lot of currencies hence became history. On 31 December 1998, the nations who joined EU fixed their currency rates with euro. The development of euro has long had a close relationship to Jupiter-Saturn cycle. Thus, we may witness some major policy or adjustment on euro in the upcoming days.

From what we have discussed in the above Jupiter in Scorpio section, we understand that this Jupiter-Saturn semisquare has been closely related to racial conflicts or even massacres. In the 1998 semisquare, we saw how the situation in Kosovo became intense – a racial massacre broke out on 28 February, and a war soon followed. In May 1998, a riot against Chinese broke out in Indonesia, causing a 1200 people fatality.

There were no Jupiter-Saturn waning squares in Scorpio and Capricorn in modern history, but we can put an eye on the last one which was in 1283. If we try to consider the history around this time, we can find similar patterns of what we are now undergoing in international conflicts. In 1283, Mongolians invaded Burma, and the Burmese King chose to buy peace with money, and in 2017, Burma is under the spotlight because of the Rohingya prosecution.

Similar pattern can be found in Europe at that time. In 1283, King Edward I of England executed Dafydd ap Gruffydd, the last ruler of the independent Wales, by hanging, drawing and quartering. This not only was the first time this cruel method of execution was used in England, but also an event which ended the sovereignty of Wales as an independent country.  Around this time, the parliament of Catalonia, a name which is frequently mentioned in news and media lately, was one of the first in Europe that banned the royal power to create legislation unilaterally. Now, with the same aspect formed again, the autonomy of Catalonia is once again challenged. Also in 1283, King Philip III of France outlawed Jews in villages and rural localities. The invasions of the great powers into their neighbouring countries, and the subsequent merging and independence of countries is nothing new in history. These events took place again and again. However, with Jupiter in Scorpio, or we would say a semisquare of Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Capricorn, we can actually observe a special pattern in these events.

Faith, Courage and The Will to Survive

In this upcoming Jupiter in Scorpio period, Jupiter will be stationary on 8 to 11 March 2018 and start to retrograde at 23 Scorpio. It will move directly again on 9 July at 13 Scorpio. Jupiter retrograde often makes us reflect on the current social development – What kind of society and culture do we want? When Jupiter is in Scorpio, its rulers, Mars and Pluto, ask us to find strength for survival. Pluto, which is in Capricorn, and Jupiter will form sextiles 3 times in January, April and September 2018 respectively. No matter how challenging and difficult it looks, a strong faith and survival instinct are going to keep us going. Mars will meet Jupiter in Scorpio in early January. When Mars returns to its home Scorpio, it will grant us courage and make sure our determination is strong enough so that our will cannot be shaken, allowing us to fulfil our hopes with such passion and initiative. In late June and early July 2018 when Jupiter is about to go stationary and go back to direct motion, Mars in Aquarius will also start to retrograde. Challenges and frustrations in such times will ask us to go inward for faith, willpower, religious devotion, survival instinct and the energy to live on. In these two months when Mars goes retrograde, it could be hope and faith, symbolised by Jupiter, that grant us the willpower so that we can guarantee our own survival.

Similarly, when Jupiter is in Scorpio, we might encounter something which leads to self-doubts, doubts on religions, the world, and our very own existence. It could be time for us to go back to our own natal charts to explore Jupiter and Mars. Natal Jupiter describes our world view and our faith, which bring us positive thoughts and allows us to look forward to the future, whereas natal Mars gives us courage, determination and the survival instinct, which are our main driving forces when facing uncertainties and doubts.

Finally I would like to share a quote from Pericles which keeps appearing in my mind during my studies of Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Capricorn.

On 29th August 2017 North Korea launched another missile test, this missile crossed north Japan and fall into Pacific ocean 1180Km east from Cape Erimo Hokkaido North Japan. Although this is not the first time North Korea has missile test, but this time the missile cross north Japan air space, this has meaningful effect,  the Japanese government has issue waring to the citizen in Hokkaido after the North Korea launch rocket, advising people to evacuate to a “sturdy building or basement”. In the financial market the major world index fell on the 29th August.

Astrological view of North Korea missile strikes can related to earlier this year when the lunar eclipse occurred in 11th Feb 2017, the Mars was right on the Ascendent of Pyongyang. Mars also conjunct M.C on the Cancer ingress chart.

The 21 August Solar Eclipse New Moon is right on North Korea’s Saturn, transiting Saturn is on North Korea’s Jupiter, together with Tr Uranus on 28 Aries trine August Eclipse New Moon.

29th August is not just a normal day in astrological view, Saturn still in its slow motion after stationary, the Moon is near the bottom of its declination, near Moon Apogee (404347Km)  and max latitude. It is a waxing moon, the zodiac degree of this waxing moon makes this day important. Moon in  6 Sagittarius square Sun in 6 Virgo, Sun is right on North Korea’s MC, this waxing Moon also trigger 26 February 2018 Solar Eclipse New Moon degree at 8 Virgo, locate at North Korea’s IC. It is not surprising for astrologer to see huge events happening when lunar phase trigger Eclipses points, this include New Moon, Full Moon, First quarter (waxing) Moon and last quarter (waning) moon when Sun Moon form a square to each other.

劉曉波在今天（13/Jul2017）去世，我不知道在中國會有多少人知道他是個什麼樣的人，但是對我來說它是一位永不沈默的英雄，為了中國的民主奮戰至死的鬥士。

我一直期待他能夠到西方接受治療，當他死去的消息傳出之後，我忍不住打開的占星軟體跑了他的恆星共軸報告，讀著這些恆星敘述著他的故事，而他的靈魂也回歸到星光的懷抱。我決定寫下這些恆星與他的故事來跟大家分享。

偕日昇降星熱情執著與衝撞

他的偕日昇星是位於天蠍座心臟的Antares（天蠍座的α星）這一顆星因為火紅的顏色而被稱為火星的敵人，象徵著熱情與不妥協的執著，也是四顆所謂的波斯皇家之星之一，象徵著榮耀但是這一個榮耀同時兼具著一個挑戰，是否願意放下自己的執著，偕日昇星是在地下世界待了一陣子之後在某天日出之前回到天界的恆星，象徵著靈魂的指導，揭示了我們來到這世上的目的，Antares對自己來到這世界的目的抱持著強烈的熱情與執著，因此而取得榮耀卻也可能因為執著而受盡挑戰。而我們都知道他對於民主與人權的堅持至死都不曾妥協。

在2009年十二月，他因為因為煽動顛覆國家政權罪被審判時，在法庭上遞交陳述的文章「我沒有敵人—我的最後陳述」當中即對他深愛的妻子劉霞說「即使我被碾成粉末，我也會用灰燼擁抱你。」當2010年諾貝爾獎頒發和平獎給他時，他未能到場，這一篇文章透過挪威籍女演員Liv Ullmann念出。

不僅如此，天蠍座的α星也在土星位於下降時共軸於西方的地平線上，他的土星與冥王四分，這一組共軸描繪了因為他的堅持批判，在晚年仍被囚禁至死仍沒有獲得自由。

El Nath 是位於金牛座牛角的恆星（金牛座 β 星），則是劉曉波的偕日降星，偕日降星作為我們面對生活挑戰的指導方式，也是我們執行偕日昇星的方式。我想，沒有人會想要站在牛角之前，而此一恆星就有著「衝撞」的特色，這也是他面對人生的態度，毫無所懼的去衝撞，去批判。

誰也阻止不了他批判

劉曉波的一生至少入獄四次，1989年因為參與天安門學運被捕入獄之後他丟掉了大學講師的工作，每一次的發言與批判換來的是囚禁，但是這仍然無法阻擋他對於追求中國人權與更民主中國的熱誠。誰也無法阻擋他對於政權的批判，在他共軸的恆星當中幾乎所有與批判、攻擊的恆星都出現在名單上，象徵著建設性批判位於天蠍座螫的M6星雲 Aculeus與他的太陽一同生起，象徵著攻擊性批判的Acumen 另一天蠍座螫的M7星雲則與冥王星共軸，獵戶座搞舉武器的右手Betelgeuse （獵戶座α星） 與月亮一起高掛中天,而他出生那天太陽升起時，象徵衝撞羊角的牡羊座α星 Hamal則在下中天象徵著他人生的態度與身後留給人們的印象。

荊棘皇冠

劉曉波在全世界追求自由與民主的人的心中佔有一個地位，他為了追求民主而下獄，甚至最後犧牲了生命，如果你問我對他的記憶，我會說在天安門事件時他身為大學講師站出來加入學生絕食的行列，並且在血洗之前他與鎮壓部隊談判爭取時間，將大部分的學生勸離天安門，減少了當時犧牲的學生人數，卻成為中國政府逮捕的首要對象，象徵著蛇髮女妖頭部的Alogol（ 英仙座β 星）與月亮還有水星甚至火星共軸，在恆星的定義當中，不僅有著執著熱情的象徵，同時也的確象徵著因為自身或他人的選擇而陷入災難之中。

如同諾貝爾評審頒給他和平獎的理由「長期的以非暴力的方法爭取中國的人權」，這一個理由卻也是他後半輩子深陷囹圄的理由，如同一頂荊棘的皇冠，是榮耀也是傷痛，Diadem后髮座的α星位於下中天時，他的金星在下降點的位置。這一個恆星述說著一位犧牲自己生命的希臘皇后的故事，是一顆不是爭取自身榮耀去付出與犧牲而換得他人福祉的恆星。

Every year in June, the Sun will reach its furthest point from the equator in the Northern Hemisphere. For the Northern Hemisphere it is the Summer Solstice and winter arrives in the Southern Hemisphere.  For the astrologer who uses the tropical zodiac (most western astrologers), it is also the day of Cancer ingress, the Sun moves into Cancer. Astrologers believe it has an important meaning when the Sun moves into Cardinal signs at the beginning of a new Season.  Also we can use the Cardinal ingress chart together with Eclipse charts and outer planets transit to forecast the seasonal World events.

In traditional astrology, Aries ingress is the most important chart.  However the Cancer ingress, Libra ingress and Capricorn ingress charts can also tell us what we can expect for the next three months. The aspects of this chart can give us a hint of the general theme around the whole World.

Sun Venus semi square

At this moment Venus also arrives at its greatest elongation and forms a semi square with the Sun, this usually suggests a very active financial market. Also, it indicates some difficulties in international diplomacy.

Sun Saturn Chiron T square       

Saturn Chiron squared is a major outer planet aspect of 2017, this aspect reminds us how people can get hurt by Authorities and Rules.  This also indicates old traditions could bring some problems. As the Sun is opposite Saturn and square Chiron, it will trigger this aspect and bring those issues into focus for the next three months. Some world leaders may face a huge challenge and lose their position.      

Sun sextile Uranus

As Uranus has a meaning of rebelling and revolution, when it sextile the Sun the change in society may appear in a easy way. We can see the Sun sextile Uranus as a reaction towards Sun Saturn and Chiron T square.

Mars opposite Pluto square Jupiter

The Mars Pluto aspect indicates how we will react when we face a crisis and Jupiter give a meaning of expansion.  So this aspect could suggest that we face difficulty when we act, maybe there are too many directions so that we are unable to focus on one thing,  or maybe we have high expectations for something that we are not able to achieve. This aspect could also suggest some religious conflict and  those international disputes comes to a dead end.  Nevertheless, Mars is out of bounds from Mid May to the end of June, so the conflicts and incidents could be very aggressive. *** (I have published this article in April 2017 in “IMF magazine and after that few terror attacts happen in UK in May and June.) 

As Mars is right on Ascendant of Cancer ingress chart in Europe area and it is the time of the Brexit negotiations, we can expect a huge conflict between the two sides and it may face an impasse during this time. The Sun is also very close to the Ascendant in the UK bringing immense challenges on political leaders. With Neptune and Chiron in the tenth House, some European governments could face chaotic situations especially East European countries.

As Neptune is very close to the Ascendant in the Washington area, this not only suggests the chaos in the US, but also indicates some disasters such as Earthquake, Flooding, Fog, pollution, critical epidemic situation (same in Europe as Neptune near M.C).

Jupiter is on Russia’s IC ruler 9th house.  As Jupiter forms a T square with Mars and Pluto, this may suggest some land and housing problems and territorial disputes. Sun Saturn Chiron T square affects the  Mc and Des in Beijing, this is more likely to bring political power struggle in China. Mars is right on MC of North Korea and South Korea.  There is tension building up in this area at the  time I write this article in Mid April, and this area also has Mars on Ascendent in February 2017 Lunar Eclipse chart.  So it could be more aggressive when summer coming.

Watch out! that Bloody bloody full Moon, the Lunar Eclipse will happen on 7th August 2017 at 18:10 (GMT), when the Moon at 15º25’ Aquarius opposite Sun at 15º25’ Leo. The high tension we are experiencing now and  several important incidents happening in European countries makes me give this kind of warning for this Eclipse season.  The astrological configuration of both the Solar and Lunar Eclipses are also suggesting aggressive and revolutionary qualities coming toward to us. 

On the personal level, the Lunar Eclipse shows us the result of our work, it gives us a chance to see effort that we have put in before, or maybe you will realise and scream “what have I done!“                     

It also has an important impact in our relationship, the houses location of this Lunar Eclipse (Sun and Moon) in your chart can indicate what area you should pay attention to, in your relationship, for next 6 months. More important, if you have any planets or Angles  located at 14-16º Leo-Aquarius, you may realise the huge impact that is going to affect your life.  Understanding the meaning of the planet that is touched by the Eclipse in your chart can help you prepare and get ready to participate with this life changing point.

Fire! Fire! 

The signs of this Lunar Eclipse can tell us some qualities of the events we will witness in the next six months. The elements of Eclipses are Air and Fire.  Air signs suggest human society related events, political disputes, protests, important social movements.  They also suggest natural disasters caused by powerful winds such as storms.  Moon in Aquarius emphasises that revolution and social movement could be media focus of this eclipse season.   

On another side, the Fire signs suggest aggressive actions such warfare and massacre, as well as bush fire, big fire, explosion, heat wave, drought and famine.  Sun in Leo suggests: Royal family, country leaders, celebrities, children, entertainment and wildlife are the areas which will be affected most, especially as the Solar Eclipse will also happen in Leo.

The planets aspect the Sun and Moon could add flavour to those events.  Mars is conjunct the Sun at Lunar Eclipse.  Traditional astrology gives both Sun and Mars hot and dry qualities.  With both located in the Fire sign Leo and Mars as a planet of action and warfare, this is a double whammy of extreme hot weather and huge aggressive incidents.  Those countries which have planets and angles near 6-20º’ Aquarius-Leo and those which have the Sun, Moon or  Mars on the Angles of the Lunar Eclipse chart are more likely to be affected. (for example Mexico, Nigeria, Algeria Tunisia, Italy, Croatia,Poland and most East European country).

On another side, Jupiter is trine the Moon and sextile the Sun, bringing a happy feeling and blessing.   During certain situations, wisdom and religion ( or anything you believe) can be helpful.

Important aspects during eclipse season

Saturn Chiron square

Saturn Chiron square are major outer planets aspect of 2017.  Even if it doesn’t form a tight aspect during the eclipse season, I invite you to pay more attention to this aspect.  It suggests the wounds come from the system, authorities, from political issues to private lives. The domestic issue could be conflict between parents and children, or realising those issues buried deep in the family history. On the Mundane level this could mean social injustice and those victims who have been sacrificed for political or economical reasons, people who have been ignored  by society.  For example, the change of healthcare in the U.S is going to make millions of  people lose their medical insurance.  However Chiron does not only bring feelings of hurt, it can also heal, protect from authority, create (or extend) protection towards minority groups through legislation. This is the positive side of the Saturn Chiron aspect but as this is a waning square which has inclined towards making people feel pain and fight to destroy injustice.      

Jupiter sextile Saturn

Although this sextile looks happy, never forget this is the end of the Jupiter Saturn cycle.  After the Jupiter Saturn square last year, they have come to sextile before stepping into a semi square.  Keep an eye on economic and political situations during August and September, it will give you a clue as to how the global economy will develop and how our society will change.

Jupiter square Pluto

Watch out for this aspect, the financial markets usually decline when Jupiter forms a hard aspect with Pluto.  It suggests the tension of international dispute, religious conflict, threats to social security systems, corruption and panic in financial markets. As Jupiter exact square Pluto in the end of November and early December last year and March-April 2017,  it is worth reviewing what has happened during those times, the sequel of those events might be appearing this summer.     

Mercury opposite Neptune

Mercury opposite Neptune suggests the challenge of truth, what is real and what is fantasy? Chaotic situations could appear in transport, information, communication and education. IT problems not only happen during Mercury retrograde, and Mercury will be retrograde from 10th August to  6th September and also opposite Neptune on the Solar Eclipse day. Solar Eclipse of 21 August

Second solar Eclipse will happen right before the Sun moves into Virgo at 28 º 52’ Leo on 21st August (18:30 GMT). As this eclipse occurs in the fire sign Leo, the shocking events are related to warfare, massacre, bush fire, big fire, explosion,heat wave, drought and famine as we discussed before. 

Those aspects we discussed in Lunar Eclipse are also appearing in the Solar Eclipse.  Moreover, this New Moon trine Uranus could make suddenly cause the situation to be out of control. Uranus is related to Nuclear power and nuclear weapons, it would not be a surprise if there was an incident related to these. In another way, the New Moon trine Uranus also encourages people to make changes, from personal life to the political situation and economic system.   As Venus square Jupiter, Uranus and Mars sextile Jupiter trine Saturn also happens on the Solar Eclipse day, it suggests that if we can deeply understand the core values of different social classes and of differences of political campaigns, we may be able to work together.    

One last and most crucial thing is Mars, it conjunct North Node, widely conjunct the Sun in the Solar Eclipse chart. Any planet conjunct Moon Nodes will impose its quality in our society, people will act more bravely  or more aggressively, fighting for their own rights, but this also suggest that the tension and conflicts could be very high.

This Solar Eclipse is related to Saros cycle S.S 1 North, same Saros cycles were happened in 1999, 1981, 1963, 1945 and 1927, anything happening during those times (in both Mundane level or Personal level ) could have some developments after this summer.

Trump and Solar Eclipse

Every year, around 21st March, the Sun shines directly on the equator and this makes the length of day and night almost equal for that day. In the Northern Hemisphere this is the Spring Equinox and in the South it is the start of Autumn. The Aries ingress is the beginning of Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere), the Cancer ingress is on the day of the Summer Solstice, the Libra ingress happens at Autumn Equinox when the Sun shines directly on the Equator again and moves towards the Southern Hemisphere.  Finally on 21st December the Sun’s light touches the most southern point it can reach in the South Hemisphere, it is Capricorn ingress and if you are living in Northern Hemisphere, winter has started but  people living in the Southern Hemisphere are enjoying the Summer on the beach.

Jupiter suggests religion, belief, philosophy, foreign countries and long distance traveling.  It is hard to ignore that Mars is also involved in this aspect pattern in Solar Eclipse, it suggests more upheaval in the political and economic areas, protests, attacks, and violent events.        

In UK and European countries, Cancer is rising on the Aries Ingress chart, the Cardinal sign suggests a dynamic early start. People and government are trying to focus on present issues and get ready for the challenge. The Ascendant ruler Moon will conjunct Saturn in 27 degree of Sagittarius. This suggests people are thinking carefully and are more reserved about what is happening around. We have a big picture of the future and we have to make it happen step by step with what we have learnt from history. As Saturn rules the 7th house and Saturn is also near Descendant, this suggests European countries will be more protected when facing foreign affairs, from this point of view we should not underestimate the influence of nationalism and far right parties.

Nevertheless, the Saturn and Moon conjunction are located at 27 Sagittarius – Galactic centre, this is a sensitive point of the Zodiac. Last time  Saturn was in the same place, there were the political and economic reforms started by Mihail Sergeevich Gorbachev in 1986 and the end of the Cold War which also happened that year.  Not to mention the strikes in Poland in 1988 which became another seed of the East European revolution.  Castro’s revolutionary army begins its attacks on Havana from April 1958 when Saturn was again at Galactic Centre 59 years ago. This could be a warning of disharmony of world politics but if we look at it carefully, wealth Inequality lead to these revolutions.

The Jupiter Uranus and Pluto T square are located in 5-7-11 for European countries, the Axis of 5-11 Houses are related to welfare, social security system, charity, local government and parliament, these things are essential during  social and political reforms and may be the cause of lots of argument. The 7th house is about foreign affairs,  as Brexit happen and the uncertainty of French, German general elections, the tension between EU countries will  increase.    

It looks like a bumpy road for 2017 Spring time if we look at Aries ingress chart of EU, UK and US, Neptune is on the Angles, this remind us one thing, we have to learn from our experiences. Fear  cruelty and rejection  are never the solution for hard times, we have to learn compassion, empathy, forgiveness and help each other, if we still remember what caused the 1st and 2nd World Wars and how we try hard to make sure these wars never happen again.
